03.07. HeyHo Growmunity, welcome in week 18 of DC's Super Auto Deepforest! Well, where to begin... Overall it was a good week for the DF, despite of many rainy days. She's still stretching and reached the magic 200 the day before yesterday, today I measured 206cm 🤪👈 I defoliated her yesterday morning, removing the lowest shoots and pincing off thousands of suckers. She produced a lot of them and I'll keep removing them further on. But she's a huuuuge beauty🤣but also a bit scray though😂.. I have to keep the tent closed during the day b'cause she nearly took half of the tent yet and nearly every neighbour would notice what ima raising in my lil' garden😬😬 One last word to the stinging nettles. As you see on one of the pics that there a millions of aphids in the tent. Funny thing, they r exclusively on the stinging nettles, not a single one on the DF👌. Today I'd like to write about a plant which is relatively new to me as a companion but prooved its effectivity over the last weeks of DF's grow. The tobacco plant! Firstly, tobacco acts as a kind of vacuum cleaner, because it is covered by a layer of trichomes and glands, almost like cannabis itself, with the difference that marijuana leaves are usually smaller than those on a tobacco plant. That vacuum effect acts against threats. If you pick up a plant and take a look at its different parts up close, you will notice that it is covered with small insects (such as whiteflies etc. see picture!). Tobacco plants' large leaves are a kind of a trap that lures prey with their nicotine, a substance that acts as a poison against parasites, ultimately killing them. Thus, placing pots of tobacco plants next to the crop we care about the most can make a big difference. Here's another great tip which I just can recommend: Take the greenest tobacco leaves, put them in a blender, and add a little water to create a homemade and completely organic insecticide that can be sprayed on marijuana plants without doing any damage to them. These are just some of the tips that both experienced and novice growers should take note of. I'm very happy with this companion and it will have a steady place in my future outdoor runs. That's all from this weeks Backyardweedporn, have a good one and take care! Servus✌️ OimRausch
