2020 Summer Outdoor

9/4/2020- Weather has been pretty humid with lots of rain. 75 f during the day with just about 100% humidity around the clock. Unfortunately this caused the runted Double Black 98 to rot and with a serious quickness. This obviously has to do with worm infestation from early during its vegetation and the fact it is meant to be grown indoors in a more controlled climate. Next time I will just pull any infested plant as it is not worth the risk late in the season. In any event there are some pics of the plant as an example of what to look for. If you grow outdoors I am sure you have seen the white spider egg nests on curled up leaves. Or the white fuzz left behind by thrips I think. So bud rot looks pretty similar to that, just an off white fuzz that turns anything it touches brown. You can also spot it on the sugar leaves as a white patch, looks similar to a thin or watered down white bird shit. Anything on the plant not affected is going into the trim pile for this year to make dry ice hash. Because I am still a bit a beginner and after the 98 situation I consulted with a buddy who spent years out west and in the great north about any possible follow up issues. He suggested a look at my level of defoliation vs how I grew and if I have removed enough leaves during flowering to prevent a humidity build up. If you can see light through it then you are good was his instruction. Also don't be afraid to step back and look after taking some leaves, it can prevent you from cutting too much off. So I took his advice and did some serious defoliation on several of the plants. All of them except 3 needed what I would consider a good bit of work. Now they have better shape and ventilation which has put my mind at ease. Overall it was a really good learning experience and I am still just as excited to finish strong. While I was out I snapped a pic of Dos Si A2 and one of her flowers. A3 still is battling the critical, 11 roses and the BBHB for best smell as well but it is a close race. I will throw more pictures up when I go out over the weekend. Pretty sure next week is my last week of ferts and I stopped the calcium last week. Things are starting to get close I just need to make sure they get that density built up. Hard not to get gun shy. But we will be moving to flush on 9/11. Peace, Love and Hugs! May she always shine on your garden! 9/7/20- Weather has still been a mixed bag but with certainly less rain. I had to continue to go through every plant and look for signs of mold or rot. I have removed several small low hanging branches that could potentially cause an issue. I honestly probably should have removed these long ago but just another bit of inexperience showing. After removing any signs and fixing any poor pruning work I should have done I sprayed any relevant sights with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution cut 50% with water to try and clear of any lingering spores or infection. I applied this to the plant directly for 3 days in a row. We have strong rains moving in today that should wash the plants clean. My last application of any fertilizer was also today. I plan to start flushing them at this point as to make sure the natural taste is the only thing coming through. My 70 day date is 9/27 so I am just waiting for them to add weight and start checking trichome color.
