This weekend I got some soil and some buckets so that I can transplant the babies into some new homes. I decided on some 4.5 gallon mop pales from Home Depot. Then I went down to the local grow shop and got talking with the people there about what soil I could get that would be enough for the plants in the buckets I'm using but not cost me an arm and a leg. We landed on Happy Frog organic soil; $20 for 2.5 cuft which was more than enough and fit right into my budget. When I got home I drilled holes all around the buckets including lots of holes in the bottom for drainage and to assist with air flow to the soil and root zone. When mixing the soil I thoroughly mixed it 4-1 with perlite to help with aeration and water retention. Transplanted into the larger buckets, making sure to burry the stretched stems so that only about 3 inches were sticking out. Watered thoroughly and placed in the tent, 16 inches under the light. Im excited to see how this new home will help them grow! I had imagined that they would be about twice the size they are by now, initially I had imagined that I might be putting them into flower around now but looking at the size and growth rate of my plants and the fact that I am not planning on topping this time around I think they neeed at least another month if not more before they are going to be ready to flip into flower.
