Week 3!
So far, so good...
Day 15:
- raised plants up by approximately 5" closer to the lights.
- increased air circulation to provide a slightly stronger breeze for the plants.
- lowered the humidity just slightly compared to last week. We'll be aiming for 70-75% RH and temperatures around 79F during lights on and trying to stay above 69F during lights off.
Day 16:
- light levels at canopy are around 15,000 LUX
- our 6" oscillating fan bit the dust and was replaced with a fixed 10" fan
Day 17:
- we made a few "fine tuning" adjustments with our lighting, by increasing the light intensity of our "Elite 360" fixture (with the QB96 boards) from about 10% to 15%. This provides approximately 10,000 LUX of light at the canopy from this fixture.
We raised the Sunblaster strip lights up until we were at a combined, total LUX of about 19,000.
This way, we have a more even mixture of light, incorporating the 6400K spectrum of the Sunblaster strip lights with the wide spectrum and far reds of the QB96's.
Day 18:
- Temp: 80F
- RH: 70%
- watered with .5ml/L each of BioBizz "Bio-Grow" and "Acti-Vera". This resulted in a nutrient solution of approximately 250ppm and a pH of approximately 6.6.
- started seeing some light stress on the leaves so we moved the Sunblaster strip lights up a few more inches. We'll see how the plants respond.
Day 19:
- Plant #1 had a very severe negative reaction to yesterday's watering. The plant looks severely over-watered. We're not sure if it's a problem with the nutrients, drainage of the soil, or perhaps even too much humidity?
- we lowered the RH to less than 50% and we also reduced our light intensity to under 15,000 LUX.
Day 20:
- Plant #1 is looking much worse, with the "over-watering" symptoms moving up the plant. Plant #2 is starting to show symptoms as well.
- we transplanted both plants to 5 gallon fabric pots, using the "Bluesky Organics 'Super Soil'". Both plants seemed to have healthy root growth and were definitely needing to be transplanted.
- we watered the new soil lightly with a fine mist spray bottle before transplanting but did not water after transplanting.
Day 21:
- Temp: 80F
- RH: 60%
- both plants are still looking heavily affected by over-watering symptoms (and possibly a nitrogen deficiency).
The issue has been a pretty big set-back to the progress this week. Both plants have slowed their growth considerably over past couple of days.
- we lightly watered, in a circle around each plant with dechlorinated water with 125ppm Cal-Mag/Nitrogen.
